Professional Diesel Fuel Filter FS36253 FS19738 FS19634 FS1220
Q: What is the function of this filter?
The core function of FS36253 filter is to serve as an oil-water separation filter element for diesel engines, used to separate moisture and impurities in diesel and protect the engine fuel system.
• Fuel water separation: effectively separates the moisture in diesel, preventing water from entering the engine combustion chamber, avoiding rust, wear, clogged fuel injectors, or damage to the high-pressure pump.
• High precision filtration: intercepts small impurities (such as gum, oxide particles, metal debris, etc.) in diesel, and some products can intercept particles larger than 4 microns, with a filtration accuracy range of 1-100 microns.
• Strong applicability: Widely used in diesel engines of brands such as Cummins, Dongfeng Tianjin, HOWO, Ouman, Weichai, etc., and also suitable for construction machinery such as excavators and bulldozers.
• Structural design: Foldable filter cartridges are commonly used, made of fiberglass filter paper or encrypted filter paper, with characteristics such as high temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, waterproof and anti-static.
Q: How do you prime a diesel engine after changing the fuel filter?
After replacing the fuel filter of a diesel engine, it is not possible to directly fill the filter with oil because modern diesel engine fuel systems are precise, and unfiltered diesel may contain impurities that can damage key components such as injectors. The correct approach is to install a new filter and gradually remove air and fill it with fuel through manual exhaust and fuel filling.
The correct operation steps are as follows:
1. Install a new filter
Check if the sealing ring of the new filter is intact.
Wet the sealing ring with a small amount of diesel (for easy installation and sealing).
Hand tighten the new filter in place, then use a special tool to tighten it about 3/4 turn (to avoid deformation caused by excessive force).
2. Exhaust the air from the low-pressure system
Find the bleed screw on the filter (usually located at the top or side).
Loosen the air release screw slightly with a wrench.
Repeatedly press the hand oil pump (fuel pump handle) until the diesel flowing out from the vent screw is free of bubbles and continuous and smooth.
Immediately tighten the air release screw at this time.
3. Check the exhaust on the fuel injection pump side (if applicable)
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (do not start the engine).
Loosen the exhaust screw on the fuel injection pump or high-pressure fuel pump (position depends on the vehicle model).
Continue to press the hand oil pump until there are no bubbles in the discharged diesel, and then tighten screw 78.
4. Attempt to start the engine
If it runs smoothly after starting, it indicates successful oil filling.
If there is still shaking, insufficient power, or inability to start, it may be necessary to repeat the exhaust or check the sealing of the fuel system.
Q: Does a water separator need to add fuel to the filter when changing it out?
When replacing the fuel water separator, it is not necessary to add fuel to the filter, but it is recommended to fill the new fuel water separator with diesel before installation to facilitate system exhaust and smooth engine start-up.
• The fuel water separator itself does not require additional refueling: its working principle is to use the density difference between oil and water to naturally separate water under the action of gravity, without relying on external fuel addition for operation.
• When replacing, it should be filled with diesel fuel: Several authoritative car maintenance guidelines indicate that before installing a new oil-water separator, it should be filled with diesel fuel to reduce air entering the fuel system and facilitate subsequent exhaust and start-up.
• The fuel system needs to be vented: After replacement, it is usually necessary to vent the air through a manual fuel pump or a vent bolt to ensure smooth supply of fuel to the high-pressure fuel pump.
Operation suggestions (applicable to diesel vehicles)
1. Close the fuel inlet valve (if any).
2. Fill the new oil-water separator with diesel fuel.
3. Open the drain valve or drain outlet to release some fuel and release air.
4. Remove the old part in the correct direction (usually left to remove and right to tighten) and install the new part.
5. Loosen the air release bolt and use a manual oil pump to exhaust until no bubbles emerge.
6. Check the sealing and start the engine after confirming that there are no leaks.
