Professional Crankcase Breather Filter 2735711 273-5711 2654A104 CV51301
Q: What is a Crankcase Breather Filter?
The crankcase ventilation filter (often referred to as a crankcase breather or oil-gas separator) is a key component in the engine's positive crankcase ventilation system (PCV), mainly used to separate oil vapor from blow by gas and maintain crankcase pressure balance.
Working principle
Gas entry: During engine operation, high-pressure blow by gas enters the filter through the ventilation pipe.
Separation and filtration: using coagulation filtration, cyclone separation, or impact principles to make tiny oil droplets gather and settle.
Return and emission: The separated oil flows back to the engine, and the purified gas enters the intake system for combustion after being regulated by the PCV valve.
Q: What does a crankcase breather filter do?
The core function of the crankcase breather filter is to balance the air pressure inside and outside the crankcase and filter the oil and air mixture to protect the engine sealing system and reduce pollution.
Balanced air pressure leakage prevention: When the engine is working, the reciprocating motion of the piston causes pressure fluctuations in the crankcase. The respirator maintains internal and external pressure balance through ventilation, preventing excessive positive pressure from causing oil leakage from the oil seal and gasket, or excessive negative pressure from inhaling external dust.
Oil and gas separation and filtration: Using the principles of condensation or impact, the oil vapor in the blow by gas is condensed and separated, and refluxed to the oil pan. At the same time, solid particles such as carbon smoke in the gas are filtered to reduce oil consumption and carbon deposition in the intake system.
Environmental protection and secondary combustion: In a closed system, the filtered exhaust gas is introduced into the intake manifold to participate in combustion again, avoiding the direct discharge of unburned mixture and oil vapor into the atmosphere and meeting emission regulations.
Extend the life of engine oil: By discharging the blow by gas containing water vapor and acidic substances, the engine oil is prevented from being diluted, emulsified, or oxidized, thereby reducing internal component wear.
If the respirator is blocked, it can cause abnormal increase in crankcase pressure, leading to faults such as "burning oil", damaged seals, and decreased engine power.
