Filter Wrench
The filter wrench is used to disassemble and assemble the rotary filter. It should be used when replacing the filter when separating spin-on filter housing. The oil filters or fuel filters like spin-on types total can use the wrench. You also can call fuel filter wrench or fuel filter tools. These filters are smooth, cylindrical canisters with knurling on the bottom that are difficult to grip, especially when they are oily.
The loop of chain is placed around the filter, and the bar is turned anticlockwise by hand until the chain wraps itself tightly around the filter. A socket wrench or adjustable spanner is then used to turn the hexagonal bar further in the same direction. This increases the tension in the chain, which bites into the soft metal casing of the oil filter which helps prevent slippage.

Working Principle

A drain plug should be able to be threaded by hand, without resistance. If there’s resistance, it could be dirty threads or it could be cross-threading.

Add a small amount of clean oil from your finger onto the rubber seal and screw it on. Turn the filter an addition turn or so after the seal makes first contact.
