Air Filter Gauge
Air filter gauge, also known as air filter restriction indicator, is mainly used for the air filter of diesel engine. It is installed on the air outlet end of the air filter housing or the air outlet pipe (between the air cleaner and the engine), so that the filtered air can be contacted. The replacement and maintenance of air filter are mainly based on the mileage and service time of the form. The negative pressure in the air intake pipe is directly affected by the air filter cleaning slightly, and the clean negative pressure is small, otherwise, the negative pressure increases. The internal slider of the air filter maintenance indicator changes position due to the change of negative pressure in the air inlet pipe. Air filter Switches
l Visual Indicator + Switch, Vacuum Restriction Indicator:unique Filter Minder system provides both visual and electrical monitoring. It is for fuel filter gauge mostly.
l The electrical switch has the function of automatic reset and can be used as the system preheating monitor. The high fluid viscosity associated with cold start-up will cause the pressure drop of the filter element to increase. The electrical switch will signal a high differential pressure until the system reaches operating temperature. As the system heats up and the differential pressure decreases, the range spring returns the piston assembly to its normal position, restoring the magnetic force between the magnet and the actuator rod. The restored magnetic force is sufficient to overcome the switch spring force, allowing the switch to send a differential pressure signal below the switch set point.

Working Principles
Air filters usually exhibit low resistance over most of their service life. As the air cleaner accumulates more and more dust, the filter restriction will increase faster until the air cleaner is close to the end of its serviceable life, and the Yellow position indicator on the air filter gauge will move faster to the red area. (high humidity or rainy conditions may slightly increase the air filter resistance) the air filter minder is a simple device that can accurately measure the air inlet system filter resistance. It measures and remembers the maximum limit at maximum air flow (this happens during hard acceleration or towing a trailer, etc.)
Because different types of filter gauges are based on different filter elements mostly, their measuring ranges are also different. According to relevant standards, the maximum air inlet restriction of air filter is 6-6.25kpa, that is to say, when the air inlet resistance exceeds this value, the air filter restriction gauge shall display a red mark. This means you need to install a replacement filter before air filter bypass occurs.
Memory
All visual indicators in the air cleaner assembly show whether the preset differential pressure has been exceeded at any time – even after the system has been shut down. When the factory set differential pressure is exceeded, the red button pops up and remains until the manual reset.
When the differential pressure decreases, the shift spring returns the piston assembly to its normal position; however, the gap between the magnet and the now extended indicating button is too large for the magnetic force to overcome the button spring force. As a result, the button remains in the extended position until the differential pressure decreases and is manually reset.
Hot locking
The optional bimetal thermal lock prevents starting below 32°C and allows starting above 80°C system temperature. Between 32°C and 80°C, the thermal locking device is in a transitional state. Above 80°C, the indicator will activate when the element is clogged and the differential pressure exceeds the preset limit.

It’s really an intake air temperature sensor, but more like a valve. The two hoses you see connected to it are Coolant hoses. The valve allows coolant to flow through the throttle body in cold weather to prevent freezing of the throttle body. It closes in hotter weather to slightly reduce the temperature of the air entering the intake manifold.
When only the window on the filter element blockage indicator shows the red mark,the paper filter element has been blocked by dust and dirt, and the air filter needs to be cleaned or replaced at this time. After replacing the air filter element, it is necessary to press the button and readjust the blockage indicator so that the indicator window of the element blockage indicates that the air filter element is in normaloperation.
Remove the clogging indicator of the filter element and suck it with the mouth. If the red mark appears immediately, it indicates that it works normally. Or block the air inlet of the filter element blockage indicator and let the engine run at medium speed. If there is a red mark, it indicates that its performance is good.
Engage outlet neck of the DuraLite over intake piping for a full 1½” to insure a secure, lasting seal.
Tighten clamp around outlet neck to 60 in• lb minimum.
On remote mount style, avoid crushing the body with body clamps. A snug fit is best, and body clamps are not always required.
Keep away from engine manifold and other very hot components (Which is rated at 180 °F / 83 °C maximum sustained temperature).
Keep away from battery acids, brake fluid, and other caustic fluids.
