Filter Bowl
In recent years, due to the increasingly strict requirements of vehicle engine emission regulations, the fuel filter has been further improved. The high efficiency and reliability of the fuel supply system plays an important role in the performance of the engine. Therefore, in order to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of the fuel supply system, it is necessary to improve the structure and function of the fuel filter. The filter bowl of the diesel fuel filter kit and fuel water separator has compact structure, which ensures the high efficiency and reliability of the fuel supply system.
Filter bowl is installed in the fuel filter and fuel water separator filter. So we called replacement water bowl kit usually. It is so important in the fuel filter which can hold 0.5 liters of water. Its transparency is very high, which is convenient for the driver to observe the water level with eyes directly, and timely drain and clean the water before it is full.
The more functions are:
1. Collect impurities and moisture in diesel fuel. If you don’t separate out the water and moisture in one independent place or when the bowl is full of water and moisture, you don’t open the drain valve to to drain the water in time.The water and moisture will go back into the filter or engine.
2. Extend the service life of filter.
3. Protect our engine more better.
4. Increase liquid flow speed. Good design of the filter bowl can make the liquid water to flow easily and quickly.
5. Some of our bowls have sensors. The water level sensor has self-test function. When it is powered on, self-test will be carried out. The indicator light will be on first and then off, indicating that it is normal. If it does not flash, the water level sensor has problems and needs to be replaced. If the ECU is connected, the ECU performs self-test.
Working Princilple
Fuel filter bowl is mainly composed of three parts:water collection bowl body, the drain valve and reserved port. The water drain valve has a waterproof rubber ring inside. Fuel filter sensor also can be added here.
Because of the relationship between density and gravity, the impurities and moisture will be separator down in the end of the filter. The filter bowl is just installed in the end of the filter for collecting.You can open the drain valve by hand to drain the water when it is 3/4 of the body. Reserved port is used when the drain valve is closed badly,or can’t open.
The service life of the filter bowl is long for good material. It is longer than the filter. You can change the filter and using the old bowl again for collecting.
The filter bowl can be taken down or reinforced by filter bowl wrench.
Components
l Collection bowl body, Water will be collected inside. The utility model comprises a bowl shell and a water storage chamber in the bowl body; the bottom is provided with a mounting hole; the outer wall of the top is provided with an external thread for assembling with the spin-on diesel filter or filter base.Here also need rubber rings for better sealing .
l Drain Valve with waterproof water bowl seal kit inside. The drain plug is connected with the water storage chamber to discharge the water in the water storage chamber.
l Reserved Port, Reserved to add water sensors or vacuum gauges when needed.
l Water sensors and vacuum gauges for signal services, The sensor probe of the water level sensor extends into the water storage chamber to collect the water level signal in the water storage chamber.
l The integral fuel heater can be added if you need. It allows you to work normally in cold weather after heating.

Material
Polycarbonate (called PC): It is stable to light, but not resistant to ultraviolet light and good weather resistance; it is resistant to oil, acid, alkali, oxidizing acid, amine and ketone, soluble in chlorinated hydrocarbon and aromatic solvent, but easy to cause hydrolysis and cracking in water for a long time. The disadvantage is that it is easy to produce stress cracking due to poor fatigue strength, poor solvent resistance and poor wear resistance. But the price is very low, this is the cheapest.
Polyamide (called PA): High mechanical strength, heat resistance, smooth surface, corrosion resistance, self extinguishing, good electrical insulation, light weight, easy to form. Because of its low melting viscosity, it can flow quickly. It can’t be used at – 20℃ , the disadvantage is water expansion because of large deformation.Poor light resistance. Thermoplastic Urethane (called TPU): It is an elastomer and a material with high crystallinity, so it has strong pressure resistance and impact resistance, oil resistance, outstanding cold resistance, good performance for recycling and wide hardness range.But it is very expensive.
FAQ
Ethanol separates from petrol if left standing and will collect water in a blob that rust out metal tanks where it sits. However the real difference is in the diesel there is hot fuel continually being returned back to the tank and that is a source of condensation water is dementrimental to injectors as it is not easily forced through the injector tips and generally blows the tips off.
Therefore the diesel fuel sits in the filter allowing the water to settle and be drained off before it gets to cause damage.
Under normal circumstances, the water collecting bowl of the fuel-water separator can be used repeatedly. However, due to the poor oil resistance and large expansion coefficient of the water collecting bowl made of nylon by some manufacturers, the driver’s master can’t dismantle it at all when replacing it, and is forced to do so at a cost. In addition, the price of the cup made of polycarbonate and nylon in the market is cheap, but once there is a problem, it is not a small matter. During the high-speed driving process, if there is a stone hitting the bowl, causing the bowl to break, the light one leaks oil, and the heavy one can cause fire.
The main reason is that the people are not familiar with the bowl, the direction of the drain valve is screwed wrong, the internal waterproof rubber ring and the gear at the edge of the water bowl are damaged.
There are two attention points:
- You can turn the water release knob by hand. Do not use forceps or other tools to turn it violently.
- When the water bowlis downward, screw it to the left, screw it upward to drain water, otherwise screw it to the right, screw it downward to lock and close the drain valve.
The filter bowl itself often contains water and dirt, this is normal if the water is inside of the bowl. But when you see a lot of water, it means you need to open the drain valve which is in the end to drain out the water. After that the bowl will collect the water and dirty for you again.
