Oil-wetted Air Cleaners
Oil-wetted air cleaners are used for the filtration of intake air in engines and machines operating in low-dust areas, such as ship engines, power generators and compressors operated in enclosed spaces.
The oil-wetted air filter is a vertical drum container made of steel plate. The inner part of the barrel is divided into three parts: the outer interlayer, the inner interlayer and the straight pipe section. The upper part of the inner interlayer is provided with a swirl guide vane and a packing filter layer, and the lower part of the barrel is an oil chamber. The air enters the outer interlayer of the filter from the horizontal tangent line, rotates and impacts the oil surface downward, causing the oil surface to fluctuate and the oil foam is lifted by the air flow. The air gets the oil bath here, and the dust and impurities contained in the air are stuck into the oil.
1. The installation of oil-wetted air filter assembly in construction machinery and equipment greatly reduces the air particles entering into the dry air filter. Reduce the air inlet pressure difference of dry air filter and protect the engine.
2. Oil-wetted air filters assembly should have a large amount of dust, can reduce the replacement frequency of dry filter element. Reduce consumables. Save labor time to clean the filter element.
3. Simple structure, convenient maintenance, but low filtration efficiency, more than 30 μ particles about 80%, suitable for the emergency driving conditions of vehicles.
4. Made of steel and mesh, can be used repeatedly for a long time
Working Principle
Oil wetted air filters are simple to use housings that contain mesh media elements that are coated in a thin layer of oil to trap dust and debris particles.
Air enters into the air cleaner housing from the air inlet, rushes to the oil surface along the air inlet pipe, then changes direction, and reaches the outlet through the filter screen.
After the air enters the air inlet, part of the dust in the dusty air is impacted by the oil surface and adhered by the oil under the inertia of the air flow. Another part of the dust impacts the oil surface with the air flow, causing oil mist.
The oil mist is very light, and it passes through the metal screen together with the air flow changing direction. However, the metal screen is in multiple continuous S-shape and multi-layer winding, with a certain density. When the air containing oil mist passes here, the oil mist will be blocked by the filter screen and the filter screen will be wetted. With the continuous increase of engine suction, more and more oil mist and dust are brought to the filter screen. The oil mist gradually forms oil drops and falls. The dust adhered to the metal net is washed down, which forms the circulation of oil flow, forms the phenomenon of oil bath and strengthens the filtering effect.
Our Features
l Parts do not require replacing, Oil-wetted air cleaners contain parts which do not require replacement for the life of the product. Regular servicing ensures that the filtration performance is maintained for the life of product.
l Compact design, Element include clamping ring. The intake air pass through an oil-wetted steel mesh, dust particles are collected on the surface of the steel mesh
l Robust metal design, the elements are washable many times before they need replacing.
l Maximum separation efficiency of approx. 70% (ISO 5011) does not achieve the performance of a modern dry air cleaner (> 99.95%).
l Gloss black finish — outside and inside the filter, has the following advantages:
A, Corrosion and chemical resistance. This polymer coating lasts five to 10 times longer than traditional paint.
B, Impact and mar resistance. Polymer coating is up to 17 times harder than most solvent-based paint.
C, Consistent coating thickness over the entire air cleaner, even in crevices and small, hard-to-reach places
Installation Tips
Installation: horizontal to vertical downwards
Although the function is the same as pre cleaner for dust filtering, but the Installation must be noted as follows:
1. The power of oil-wetted air cleaners shall be greater than that of dry air filter, and the air inlet flow shall be greater than that of dry air filter.
2. The oil pan filter element shall be soaked with oil before using the oil-wetted air filter. Set the scale for oil pan filling, otherwise the filtration efficiency will be reduced.
3. The air cleaner must be installed, that any dust particles can reach clear side of filter due to vibration
4. The air cleaner must be adequately shielded from rain and any water spray. The tightening strap necessary for mounting is already integrated on the air cleaner so that no additional parts are required for installation.
5. The oil-wetted air filters consist of a knitted steel mesh which must be wetted with oil after each maintenance in order to achieve an optimum filter performance. The cleaning can be carried out optimally with a steam jet device.
6. Clean the metal filter screen in time according to the operation conditions, clean the visible impurities with diesel, and apply a thin oil layer after the cleaning oil dries.
7. When the dust in the dust collecting cup exceeds 1/3, it must be removed, and the dust in the central pipe shall be removed in time. Install the gasket when installing the dust collecting cup, and pay attention to its tightness.
8. Regularly check and replace the oil in the oil pan of oil bath air filter. The oil level shall not exceed the ring groove in the oil pan, so as to prevent the oil from being sucked into the cylinder, carbon deposit or speeding. When the engine oil is thickened and has poor fluidity, it shall be cleaned and replaced in time. The filtered waste engine oil shall be diluted by adding 1/3 diesel oil into the engine oil in winter.
FAQ
When dust becomes clearly visible on the filter, wash it out with Diesel fuel. After washing, shake off the excess fuel well. Oil-wetted air cleaners may also be cleaned with a steam jet cleaner. After cleaning, apply an even, thin layer of engine oil to the filter packing (if dipped in an oil bath, shake off the excess oil afterwards). If servicing is neglected, separation performance will reduce significantly.
- The oil-wettedair filter can not be used alone on the forklift. It and the dry air filter form a dry + oil bath air intake filtration system with two-stage filtration function.
- Use oil bath type air filter to maintain the specified oil level height to prevent oil loss during operation. Generally, it is not necessary to add oil during the two times of maintenance, unless the oil is sucked into the engine.
- The driver shall regularly check the change of oil level and oil quality. When it is found that the dust in the oil pool reaches half of the depth of the oil pool or the viscosity of the oil in the oil pool becomes larger, the oil shall be cleaned and replaced in time.
- The oil-wettedair filter is very sensitive to the inclination. After maintenance, the installation inclination of the air filter should be less than 30 °. If the tilt angle is too large, the filtration efficiency may be reduced, and even the oil will be sucked into the engine. Compared with dry air filter, the maintenance of oil bath air filter is more frequent.
- When using the forklift, according to the actual operating conditions of the forklift and the above precautions, the maintenance of the air filter shall be done carefully to improve the service life of the forklift engine.
Dry air filter is light in weight and low in cost. It is easy to use and has a good filtering effect (over 99%). However, the effect of oil bath air filter is poor. With the increase of air dust filtering amount, its filtering effect will obviously decrease, which is estimated to be below 88%.
The disadvantage of paper filter element is that the paper filter element needs to be replaced frequently! The reason is that although the paper filter element can be cleaned, there will be particles attached to the filter paper of the air filter element when compressed air is used for cleaning, and the maximum diameter of the filter paper of the air filter does not exceed 130 microns. If it is blocked, the air permeability will be greatly reduced, and then the air entering the carburetor will be reduced Incomplete combustion, black smoke, large fuel consumption, weak driving, etc.; oil bath air filter can be used repeatedly after cleaning.
